Getting What you want is possible only by…

Over the last couple of days, I have been writing about getting what you want by running your desires through the SMART goals setting program.

When you start working with a goal setting program, this is actually an ACTION plan to get from where you are to where you want to go. This requires that you become someone different then you are right now in order to reach that particular goal.

The particular area we will be discussing today is material or financial goals.

In order to reach these goals, you will need to become a value provider to someone willing to pay for the service you provide. You can become more valuable to your current employer, and in return should be compensated more or you will be hired away from your employer by someone who will be willing to pay you more for your talents.

The only way to make more money is to become more valuable in terms of the service you provide. There is no other way.

There are a few things to keep in when trying to become more valuable:

    1. You need to constantly upgrade your skills – Take as much training as you possibly can. But make sure it is in an area that is needed in your market place. Why do think we end up in the financial situations as a society as we are in now? We have a lot of people trained in jobs we no longer need. The only way to change this is by paying attention to the market and making adjustments to your skill set to match the needs of the market place.

    2. Try and find ways work that utilizes your unique skill set – It is my belief that we are here on this planet with skills that if we focus our time and energy through that skill, we will want for nothing ever again. They key is to find a market willing to pay for your unique skills and abilities.

    3. Don’t get stuck in the rut – I heard that a rut is a grave with the ends pushed out. Don’t fight change. Markets come and go and this is a natural occurrence as the needs of our society change. You need to keep your eye on what is going on and make the necessary changes to your skill set to meet the needs of the current market place.

The prime example of this going on right now is the US Auto industry.

Keeping your skills up to date is the main way to:

    #1 Get what you want

    #2 To avoid becoming obsolete

As Always, Here’s to your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

P.S. Another way of to get what you desire is to add more revenue streams to your income. One of the best ways is to do this is by starting a home based business that works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Desire: The Starting Point of Success – Turning Your Desire into SMART Goals

Desire is the starting point of any level of success. The bigger the desire, the more energy to reach it successfully but the bigger the reward when achieved.

When is the best time to act on your desires? When the feeling is strong. When the desire strikes, that is the best time to set your desire into smart goals.

As we mentioned in yesterdays post, goal setting is a skill that will guarantee your success. Goal setting is a skill that will help you bridge the gap from where you are to your desired goals.

Steps to using personal goal setting to turn your desires into smart goals:

    1. Make a list of your desires – Make this list as long and balanced as possible. In yesterdays post we also discussed the importance of a balanced approach to goal setting.

    2. Separate your list into the different categories and prioritize – Now we need to take our list and separate the list in to different categories and then mark then from most important to least important with a numbering system of your choice.

    3. Start to run the most important goals in the categories through the smart goals process – For personal goal setting to work it is important to take each of our most important goals as far as we can everyday.

Personal Goal Setting is  extremely important with regards to your success. The better you get at goal setting the better your chances to become a success with your life.

Working with SMART goals is a great way to successfully reach your desires and the more you do it, the better you will become at goal setting.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

P.S. Make sure to start to institute personal goal setting into your daily routine and you will soon start to reach all your goals and success will be yours.

Your Success will only be as BIG as Your Goals

Yesterday I wrote a post about smart goals. Check it out at http://www.lifetosuccess.com/?p=991 .

When you look at success and living successfully, the bigger the goals you set for yourself the bigger your success becomes.

Goal Setting is one of the areas that you you must become a master of if you are going to reach any great level of success.

Yesterdays post explored SMART goals and the details behind goals that make sense.

In todays post I want to explore the neccessity of setting a balanced set of goals.

Goal setting in one area of your life only will set you off balance which is not a good thing.

Goals in balance is key to success and successful living.

So what areas of your life should you have a balanced set of goals:

    1. Career Goals – What do you want to do that will make use of your best talents and abilities? What business would you like to start?

    2. Financial Goals – How much money would you like to have in savings? How much money would you like to have at retirement time?

    3. Relationship Goals – How much time would you like to spend with your spouse and children? Is there a fractured relationship that you need to rebuild?

    4. Educational Goals – Are you updating and keeping your skills sharp in order to produce results that others are looking for? Do you want a degree in medicine or a law degree?

    5. Spiritual Goals – This is an area that is personal with most but are you making goals in this area that are important to you?

This will give you a balanced approach to goal setting and no matter what area that you are working on make sure that you are passing them through the SMART goals formula.

Living a life of success is certainly a challenge but one that is worth the time and energy. A balanced goal setting program with a balanced set of goals that are worked through the smart goals formula and you are well on your way.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

P.S. Make sure to pass this onto everyone you know who can use this information.

Thank you for Visiting LifetoSuccess.com. I hope you enjoyed this post. Keep me awake so I can do more posting!

Living Successfully with Well Defined Goals

I recently posted a three step process to living successfully and the first step us to create a crystal clear vision or direction that you would like to have success with.

Goal Setting is one of the most sought after skills in the internet. Most people who want to live successfully know the importance of clearly defined goals with a plan to meet these goals with success.

When you are working with yourself to figuere out what you would like to be, do or have, the most important thing to keep in mind is that you would like to create smart goals or S.M.A.R.T. goals.

    S. stands for specific – smart goals are specific. Very clearly defined. It is not enough to say you would like to lose weight. It should be that you weigh and then name a specific weight or body fat percentage.

A specific goals statement would look like “I weigh 185 lbs with 17% body fat.”

    M. stands for measurable – smart goals are measurable. When you create a goal there is generally a bridge that needs to built from where you are to where you want to be. Success with this goal could be a simple measurement such as are you there YES or NO.

If you are working with fitness goals, the measurement could be from where you are with your weight to where you want to be. Example: the difference between 215 lbs to 185 lbs.

This is where you get the best feedback with your goals.

    A. stands for Attainable. – smart goals are attainable. When you first start with goal setting, you will here that you should make your goals huge and this is true. You may also look at it this way… if someone else has accomplished it then you should be able to attain it as well.

Smart goals are goals that are based on what you want to accomplish and a good rule of thumb is… if you can think about it you should be able to, with the right focus on your goals, attain it.

    R. stands for realistic. Smart goals are realistic. You may say to yourself, “What is the difference between attainable and realistic?” Well my friend Mike Litman explains it like this. Mike says that you should set a goal to be a thousandaire before you set the goal to become a millionaire.

When you start working with smart goals, you should dream big and I think the bigger the better. You should never limit what you set your goals at.

But you need to set check points along the way.

It’s great to set a goal to become a millionaire but then you need to work back from there and set check point goals.

For Example the step goals would look like this:

    $1,000,000 by 12/2015

    $500,000 by 12/2011

    $200,000 by 12/2010

    $100,000 by 06/2010

    $50,000 by 12/2009

When you break it down in realistic chunks, when you start to hit the resistance to your goals, it will be easier to psuh past them.

    T. stands for Time Bound. great goals are time bound. Smart goals have a deadline. This is where the pressure to get to where you want to go comes from. With a deadline you could languish in your goals forever not accomplishing much of anything.

Smart goals are goals that challenge you, but keep you in the game when the going gets tough. Smart goals are just that, they are goals that work for you while keeping you engaged and on track.

Success comes from stepping through your accomplishing smart goals and using a goal setting program that keeps you in the game while challenging you to stretch.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

3 Steps to Successful Living (Part 3)

Step 1 – Create Your Vision, Your Desire

Step 2 – Learn how the Laws of Success work and understand them. Create a plan.

The last step is implementation. Putting your plan into action. Without action there is no success. Without action there is no feedback.

Feedback is the breakfast of champions. This will tell you if your actions are taking you closer to your vision or if you are getting farther away and will also tell you where you may need to make some adjustments.

But beyond that the most important part here is your habitual way of thinking and acting. The way you think and what you do is exactly what has brought you to this point in your life.

The only way to get a different result is to change your thinking and your actions. To try and change things by any other method is insanity. The change has to come through your thoughts and actions.

No matter what area in your life you want to make changes in, it require change in your thinking in that area followed by different action.

Your habits are the underlying software that work with or without your knowledge. Your ability to discover those habitual thoughts and actions are key in changing where you are to where you want to be.

One of the greatest resources available to help you with your habits is located at http://www.habitbustingsystem.com , if you haven’t already done so make sure to get over and check it out!

I hope this 3 part series helps you. Please make sure to pass this message on to anyone in your circle. As you make your life better you make the world better.

3 Steps to Successful Living (Part 2)

After deciding exactly what you want to be, do and have, you can start right from square one and try to figure it all out on your own. For most of us this simply will not work. There are a small amount of people who are dialed into the success laws without even knowing it. But that number is very small as you can tell when you look around.

For the rest of us, we need to find, study and internalize the laws of success. The better we understand and  internalize these laws the better chance we have to start having these laws work for us.

    The laws of success are:

    1. The Law of Thinking
    2. The Law of Supply
    3. The Law of Attraction (Made very popular lately by “The Secret”)
    4. The Law of Receiving
    5. The Law of Increase
    6. The Law of Compensation
    7. The Law of Non-Resistance
    8. The Law of Forgiveness
    9. The Law of Sacrifice
    10. The Law of Obedience
    11. The Law of Success

These are the 11 Laws of Success and if you don’t have a working knowledge of the concepts behind these laws, you will have a very hard time getting them to work for you.

In other words you need to study the laws and become a lawyer of success.

The best resource I have found that goes fully in depth into the laws of success is located http://forgottenlaws.lifetosuccess.com and if you are serious about learning about success then this course is a must have.

One of the major reasons that most people are held back is that they don’t take the time to study and understand the laws of success. Don’t let this happen to you.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

P.S. Make sure to pass this on to everyone you know who can use this information and make sure to get over to http://forgottenlaws.lifetosuccess.com and start to learn the success laws today!

3 Steps to Successful Living (Part 1)

Yesterday I posted a video on this blog by Jim Rohn. I love the way he explains things because his explainations are simple and to the point.

He says, “There is not a thousand things that you have to do to be healthy, there is about half a dozen.” Simple not complicated.

Living a successful life is also not complicated. Not easy but not complicated. Over the next three posts I will give you my take on the three keys to success in life.

The first thing that we have to do is to define success in life. I think that Earl Nightingale has one of the best definitions of success and that is “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or objective.”

The first step to living a successful life is to create a vision of what you would like to be, do or have.

This is where most people trip up. They don’t even take the time to develop the vision they would like to have for their very own life.

They take more time to plan a vacation then they do to plan their life. It’s a sad commentary.

This step is the worthy goal or objective comes into play. Or as Stephen Covey says, “Begin with the end in mind.”

Success starts with a simple step of creating your vision.

The areas that you would want to concentrate while creating your vision would be:

    1. Relationships

    2. Career

    3. Financial

    4. Fitness

    5. Spiritual

These are in no particular order but you need to have a vision of each area.

Make sure to create this vision big. And then you need to break it down into small bite sized achievable  parts.

A great success resource to help you with this is located at http://designsuccess.lifetosuccess.com

In the next post we will tackle working with the laws of success, this will be a great post.

Until then, Here’s to your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

P.S. Make sure to pass this on to anyone you know who can use this information and make sure to get over to http://designsuccess.lifetosuccess.com and start to work on the vision for your successful life.

Thank you for Visiting LifetoSuccess.com. I hope you enjoyed this post. Keep me awake so I can do more posting!

Video from the Dean of Personal Development…

I am a huge fan of personal development and I have been fortunate enough to have seen Jim Rohn, twice.

The first time I flew down to Florida from MA to see him in a four hour seminar and flew back the same day in time to sit down at the dinner table for supper.

Meeting and talking to him was a great treat for me.

The second time I seen him, I flew out to Anaheim, CA for a weekend seminar. I paid extra to fly first class and I was in the second row in the center on the aisle. It was probably one of the most eye opening weekends. When I received the DVD’s it was neat to see myself in the video. I don’t know why it just was.

I highly recommend that you get your hands on any of his DVD’s or CD’s and listen to them.

His easy way of explaining, what we sometimes think of as complicated, success ideas.

Take a few minutes and watch this great video and then get over to http://www.jimrohn.com and get some of his great programs.

As Always, Here’s to your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark

Creating YOUR Vision of a Successful Life

Filed under: Success — John Clark @ 4:30 pm

One of the scariest things that I think about is when the inevitable happens and I pass away, the only person I will standing in front of my maker with is…

    ME!

No one else will be there to explain ME to my maker. And then I think about all the things that I didn’t do because of what I thought someone down here would think. And that really scares me…

Because I held myself back because of people who are no longer an influence in my life.

I was afraid they would be jealous if I tried to do better for myself.

    How foolish I was…

The fact is when you hold yourself back you are doing nobody any favors especially yourself. When you live a boundless life, you become an inspiration for others.

People around you want you to succeed BUT only if it doesn’t effect their relationship with you. If they don’t have to change, then it’s OK with them.

With that in mind, what are you supposed to do? Your supposed to live your life by your terms, not theirs.

Here are a few action ideas:

    1. Create YOUR vision of a successful life – This is where you actually sit down with a pad of paper and start to write down everything that you would like to be, do or have. This is YOUR vision not anyone else’s.

    Web Resource: http://designsuccess.lifetosuccess.com

    2. Learn the Laws of Success – These are the laws that work for everyone that is born into our world. When you have a conscious knowledge of how these laws work and then you start to apply them you will start to realize the vision you create above.

    Web Resources: http://forgottenlaws.lifetosuccess.com and http://tsogr.lifetosuccess.com

    3. Apply the Success Laws and Become a Person of Service – This where you start to pay the price for what you are looking to be, do and have. This is the action part of success. Action starts the receiving process. When you start to take action, you start to get the all important feedback you need to make adjustments in your process.

A change in action is REQUIRED in order to get a different result. If you continue to take the same course of action, then expect to continue getting the same result.

A habitual change in action and thinking is REQUIRED to get a different outcome.

    Web Resource: http://www.habitbustingsystem.com

As the steps seem awfully easy, this process takes lots of discipline and effort but you can always start right where you are at, no matter where this finds you in your life.

As Always, Here’s to Your LifetoSuccess,

    John Clark
